The wonderful memories we have of her will outweigh the many tears we shed. She was born September 1, 1931, at Stone City, Kansas, the daughter of Howard Ralph and Mary (Marietta) Beighey. The wonderful memories we have of her will outweigh the many tears we shed. She was born September 1, 1931, at Stone City, Kansas, the daughter of Howard Ralph and Mary (Marietta) Beighey. The family later moved to West Mineral, Kansas, where Anita attended grade school and graduated from West Mineral High School in 1949. She started nursing school at Mt. Carmel Hospital, graduating in 1952. After graduating, she worked there until 1957 and during which time she was surgery supervisor. On May 26, 1956, she was united in marriage to Harold Pepper Martin at the West Mineral United Methodist Church. They had two daughters, Donna and Joyce Martin. In 1957, they moved to Wichita and she worked at St Francis Hospital until moving back to Pittsburg later that year. She started working at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac in 1968, retiring in 1994. She was a 4-H member, Girl Scout Leader, on the State Board of Kansas Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary and a loving wife and mother. She held membership at College Heights United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Pepper Martin of the home and her daughter Donna Martin of Pittsburg. Additional survivors include a loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Joyce Ann Martin, a sister, Louise Bruyr and a brother-in-law, Jack Bruyr. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 6th) at Brenner Mortuary with Rev Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Monday. The family suggests memorials to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, College Heights United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary.
