Dubuque Telegraph Herald And Times Journal - Monday, August 8, 1927 - Farley, Ia., Aug. 8 — Special — Word was received here this morning of the death of Mrs. Mary Waterhouse which occurred at nine o’clock at her home in Rudd, Ia. Mrs Waterhouse had been ill three years. Mary Armstrong, daughter of the late David Armstrong, was born Dec. 25, 1843 in Ireland. She came with her parents to Iowa when a child and grew up on a farm in this vicinity. She was united in marriage to George Waterhouse and they, too, settled on a farm near Farley. Nine children were born to this union, six of whom survive. Her husband, Dr George Waterhouse, Mrs Jennie Goodale, and Emma preceded her in death. She is survived by: Mrs. Charles Freeman of Ogilvie, Minn.; Miss Madge at home; Will Waterhouse, Oakland, Cal; Joseph Waterhouse, Greeley, Colo.; James and David Waterhouse of Sioux City, Ia. One sister, Miss Mary Armstrong of Dyersville, also mourns her death. Mrs. Waterhouse has always lived here until nine years ago when she moved to Rudd, Ila., where her daughter, Miss Madge taught in the schools. Funeral arrangements have not been completed but the remains will be brought here for burial. Dubuque Telegraph Herald And Times Journal - August 10, 1927 - Farley, la, Aug. IO — Special: The remains of Mrs. Mary Waterhouse, who passed away at her home in Rudd Monday morning, will be brought here by automobile Thursday and taken to the Consolidated church, arriving probably at noon. Funeral services will he conducted by Rev. George Tuner, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at Rudd, at 2 o’clock.
