Description	:	Wife of Edwin Durstan Wilson (1859-1916), married in Louisa Co, Iowa, 21 Aug 1884. Date was originally "Feb 1935" which was probably based on the burial in Feb 1936. Death Certificate clearly shows that she died 31 January 1936 in the Village of Marsh (Morning Sun Township). She was 68 years, 2 months and 14 days old. She died of heart failure. She'd mothered at least 11 children by my 2nd cousin Ed. Youngest son, Frank, was the informant on her death certificate. According to Mary Mastripolito, Mary Ann and Edwin were married by Jesse Graham J P at the home of Solomon Avery, her uncle, in Wapello, Iowa. Her other Uncle, Daniel G Avery, was a witness to the wedding. Mary Ann was the eldest of the Brady children. After her marriage to Edwin Wilson they started westward by covered wagon to see more of the world. Traveling through Missouri into Kansas and stopped in Wichita, Kansas (must've been there in 1886 as that's where Flora was born) and then returned to Iowa while they were building the railroads. At the time of Edwin's death in 1916, seven of their children had married and left home. Mary Ann not having her home paid for, raised the younger children with the help of her older children who quit school when they were old enough to work. Mary Ann wove rugs on a hand loom for all the people around the area. After all the children had married, she continued to live in her home at Marsh by herself until she passed away in 1935 (actually 1936). The day she died there had been a snow storm and the roads had drifted over. The snow was higher than the cars and had to be shoveled open. Mary Ann was found in her bed where she had passed away in her sleep. She was laid to rest next to Edwin in Rice Cemetery, north of Morning Sun, Iowa. Mary Ann was liked by all for her kindness and for lending a helping hand to those who were in need or sick.
