A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of the Sacred Heart. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mary Ann (Briley) Littleton, was born in Boone, Iowa on September 7, 1930, the daughter of Louis and Leona (Springer) Briley. On April 5, 1947, Mary Ann married James Littleton in Boone, Iowa and to this union, ten children were born. Mary Ann was a homemaker who later held many other jobs. These included retail store sales, greenhouse work, I.S.U., restaurant, and elementary school food preparation, working at Donnelly Marketing in Nevada, and later, retiring from the instrument-sterilization department at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Over the years, she was an active member and/or officer, in various organizations including: Hazel Dell Club, A.B.W.A., Sacred Heart Altar Society, Purple Hat Ladies, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Boone. As a parent Mary Ann volunteered at Little League concessions, and the former Lowell Elementary School reading program. She also earned her GED during that time. In later years, Mary Ann was a volunteer at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad gift shop and also worked the voter registration polls during elections. Mary Ann loved her Church and family. She enjoyed coffee with friends and neighbors, playing cards, Bingo, reading holiday gatherings, picnics, camping, ballgames, driving through the Ledges, and to the cemeteries to placing her homemade flower arrangements at cemeteries. In later years she also enjoyed visiting casinos and the outdoors, especially cold winters with snow. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, infant twin daughters, two grandchildren, and a sister. Mary Ann is survived by her seven children: Bonnie Harvey, Joanie Gilliam, Karen Magie-Crouse, Tom Littleton, Jamie Gabbert, Peggy Obrecht, and Jill Hadaway; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
