As Mary Ann Hinson she was born in Cambridgeshire, England, Jan. 18, 1863. She was married to Richard Martin at Swaffam Prior, England, in 1879, and they cam to the United States in the fall of 1881 to make their home in Linn county. Five children were born to this union. Besides her husband, she is survived by four children: Bert Martin of Independence; Albert Martin, Maude Martin Hartford, Ivy Martin Van Fossen, all of Marion and eighteen grandchildren. Mrs. Martin will be remembered by her many friends as a woman of strong character, always willing to help others.
