MARY LEWIS FRIDAY Mrs. Lewis Passed Away Tuesday After Long Illness Mary Ann Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Jenkins, born Sept. 1st, 1859 at Williamsburg and passed away last Tuesday afternoon, October 27, 1942 at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 26 days. Although her death came as a distinct shock in the community, it was not unexpected, as she had been ill for nearly two years. On Feb. 24, 1881, Mary Ann Jenkins became the wife of Lorenzo E. Lewis. The couple made their home on a farm near Williamsburg and lived there until the death of Mr. Lewis, Oct. 17, 1917 (Oct. 16, 1918), when Mrs. Lewis moved into town, where she has since made her residence. While still a young girl she made her profession of faith in Christ--A profession which she always cherished. In April of 1920 she transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church. She has been a faithful member; a devoted worker, and a cheerful presence. She was slso a member of the Order of the Easter Star, an order which she served with zeal and affection that brought her the honor of being chosen Worthy Matron of her lodge. She is survived by her 4 daughters, Mrs. Annabert Boland and Mrs. Clara Stover of Kansas City, Mrs. Cettie Boland of Williamsburg and Mrs. Mabel Fedderson of Los Angeles, California; a sister, Mrs. Hanna Jones of Garden Grove, Ia., and a brother, W. D. Jenkins of Huron, S. Dak., as well as 4 granddaughters, 3 grandsons and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Lewis, and a son, LeRoy Evan, both of whom died October 17, 1917 (October 16, 1918), during the flu epidemic, also preceding her are 6 sisters and one brother. The funeral was held Friday October 30th in the Presbyterian church. The whole community of Williamsburg will miss her cheerful smile. She was a friend to all.
