Description	:	On Jan 26, 1825 in Industry, ME she married George Collins, son of Samuel Collins. Their children were James Warren, Julia Ann, Josiah Norcross, Lewis Lemuel, and Sarah N. Others list that they also had daughters Helen and Lavina but I can find no records on them yet. The History of Industry, ME states that they had these daughters (with no dates) but says that Helen was adopted by Rev. William Wyman, married a Rufus Brann, and was residing in Newburyport, MA. This book doesn't list daughter Sarah, who is verified. It is reported that her husband,... Read More	On Jan 26, 1825 in Industry, ME she married George Collins, son of Samuel Collins. Their children were James Warren, Julia Ann, Josiah Norcross, Lewis Lemuel, and Sarah N. Others list that they also had daughters Helen and Lavina but I can find no records on them yet. The History of Industry, ME states that they had these daughters (with no dates) but says that Helen was adopted by Rev. William Wyman, married a Rufus Brann, and was residing in Newburyport, MA. This book doesn't list daughter Sarah, who is verified. It is reported that her husband, George, and son Josiah went to Australia in the gold rush of the 1850's. Gold was first discovered in Australia on Feb 12, 1851 so they would have gone after that date and before the 1860 census. They were last seen in the 1850 ME census, and never heard from again. Note: I would like to note that many believe the George Collins who died in Australia in May 1870 in Tasmania, Australia is this George, but it isn't. That George Collins was born in 1801 (I believe in England) and may be the one who was sent to Australia in 1828-29 on the convict ship; and in 1849 married a Mary Ann Smith in Australia. They had a large family and are buried in Evandale, Australia. Since they married in 1849 it is clear it is not this George Collins. Son, Lewis Lemuel, went to sea at about 19 years old on a ship bound for Liverpool, England. There he was forced in the English navy and finally got out about 4-5 years later. He returned to the States, served in the Civil War in Co B 1st Maine Light Artillery, and also served in the Navy aboard the USS Colorado. After the war tried farming in ME with his brother but moved to Indiana, where on Nov 23, 1868 he married Betsey Ann (Miller) Bronson. There he settled down and raised her children from her 1st marriage: Horatio, Wesley, Andrew, and Caroline Bronson. Lewis & Betsey are buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN.
