Description	:	Mary Ann Stevenson was born in Westminster, England, August 29, 1810; came to America in March 1838; was married to Stiles Wooley May 9, 1839; was raised an Episcopalian, and confirmed when ten years of age; was afterwards converted in a Baptist church, where she remained until she came to America. She joined the Presbyterian Church of Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband, Stites Wooley, in the year 1842, and has since lived a consistent Christian life as a member of the Presbyterian church. She joined the Presbyterian Church of Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband, Stites Wooley, in the year 1842, and has since lived a consistent Christian life as a member of the Presbyterian church. Mrs. Wooley was the mother of eight children, only two of whom survive her, Mrs. A. M. Ross and Mr. Frederick R. Wooley. With her husband Mrs. Wooley came to Nebraska City from Cincinnati in July 1856, and from there to Seward, July 2, 1866. She took a leading part in organizing the Presbyterian church of Seward, and was a charter member of their organization in 1867. As long as her health permitted she was a most faithful worker in the church and Sabbath school. On February 19, 1880, the Ladies Home and Foreign Missionary Society of the Seward Presbyterian Church was organized and Mrs. Wooley was elected its first president. There were eight charter members of this society, and Mrs. Wooley's death leaves but one surviving member. On August 29, 1890, it is recorded in the minutes of this society, that "Mrs. Wooley, the vice president, was 80 years old today, and able to lead the devotional exercises and take an active part in our meeting. Her interest in the cause of missions remains unchanged, and the society owes much to her fidelity as an officer, and her generosity in giving to missions."
