Mrs. Judge De Haven a daughter of the invalied woman, arrived in the County by Tuesday Steamer reaching Eureka. Obituary Semi-Weekly Enterprise, Ferndale, Tuesday 12th December 1905 Mrs. Mary Ball Dead Mrs. Mary Ball who for several years past has been in feeble health and who a couple of weeks ago was stricken with a stroke of paralysis at the home of her daughter Mrs. Mary Reynolds at Waddington, grew worse and answered the final summons Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Ball was one of the earliest pioneers of Humboldt County, and was well known to a large number of people of Southern Humboldt, and was also a noble and true woman, who during her 4 score years and more of life had accomplished many an act that was of great assistance to friends and neighbors. The departed was a native of Orange County, New York. And at the time of her passing was 92 years, 3 months and 28 days of age. She crossed the plains when such an adventure was fraught with hardship and danger, finally settling in Southern Humboldt, and making this section of the State her home until death closed her eyes in the last long sleep. To mourn her loss are left the following named children; Mrs. Mary Reynolds of Waddington, Jotham Ball of Rohnerville, Mrs. J.J. DeHaven of San Francisco and now here, John Ball of Dillon, Montana and Mrs. Martha Smith of Arkansas. The funeral of the departed pioneer, will be held from the Waddington home of Mrs. Mary Reynolds, this Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock. Rev. Jas. Whitaker to officiate. Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery.
