Atlantic News Telegraph January 27, 1939 Page 8 OBITUARY Mary Ann Walker, daughter of John and Jemima Walker was born near Cassville, Wisconsin, November 23, 1863, moved to Iowa 10 years later and settled on a farm south of Massena. Here she grew to womanhood, met and married George Platt, October 18, 1888. To this union were born two sons, John and Frank. April 9, 1928, Mr. Platt very suddenly passed away, then on September 3, 1929, her son, Frank, also suddenly passed away. These two shocks seriously undermined her health, and since July 13, 1933, she had made her home with her son, John, one and one-half miles southeast of Massena. On January 12 she became seriously ill and passed away January 23, aged 75 years and 2 months. She leaves her son, John, three grandchildren, Mary Ruth, Frank and Jack, two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Bagshaw, Bridgewater, Mrs. Mina Youker, Christina, Montana, one brother, Will Walker, Belvedere, South Dakota, six nieces, and four nephews and a host of friends. She was a great lover and reader of the Bible. Services were held at the Methodist church in Massena, at 2 o'clock, Wednesday, January 25, by Rev. Lester Hall, of Massena. Interment was made in Victoria Center cemetery.
