Weaklend, was born in Clarke County, Iowa, January 6, 1873 and departed this life at an Osceola hospital, October 5, 1942, age 69 years, 8 months and 25 days. On February 17, 1899, she was united in marriage to Charles Freeman Ruble. To this union was born three children, one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Alma Coffman of New Virginia, Henry of Lucas and Ralph of Woodburn. She was the fifth child in a family of eight, five brothers and three sisters. She was converted some 46 years ago in a tabernacle meeting at Bethel Chapel and united with the Christian church at that place, where she still remained a member. Her entire life has been spent in Clarke county except the first four years of her married life which was spent in Lucas county, she and her husband having lived in their present home 39 years. While her home was foremost in her mind, she found time to take active part in the affairs of the community in which she had spent so many years. And her sudden death came as a great shock to her loved ones, neighbors and friends. Although she had been in falling health the past 14 months, her last illness was of only two weeks, and was marked with extreme suffering which she bore very patiently. She was tenderly cared for by her companion and children, and only sister who aided untiringly. She was a faithful loving wife and mother, always striving to make her loved ones comfortable and happy. Those who mourn her departure are the companion, the above named children, one son-in-law Arthur Coffman, two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Mable Ruble and Mrs. Gayle Ruble, 6 grandsons, Orval and Kenneth Coffman, Ronald and Roger Ruble and Richard and Stanley Ruble, her aged step-mother, Mrs. Martha Weaklend of Woodburn, one sister, Mrs. Sarah Smith of Woodburn, three brothers, John of New Virginia, Oliver of Wellington, Colorado and Gillette of Woodburn, five half-brothers, Earnest and George of Woodburn, Roy of Lake City, Iowa, Walter of Fairfield, Richard of Creston, one half sister, Mrs. Nellie Cochran of Wheatland, Wyoming and a host of other relatives and near friends. Her father, mother, two brothers, one sister, two half and one step-sister have preceded her in death. Funeral services were held from the Bethel Chapel church Wednesday, October 7 at 2:30 p. m. with Rev. Jake Gorbison of Milo officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lynn furnished the music. Pallbearers were: Elmer Weaklend, Oscar Weaklend, Wilbur Weaklend and Bob Weaklend. Interment was in Bethel Chapel cemetery. Put up her work and her empty chair, fold up the garments she used to wear, Let down the curtain and close the door, she will need the garish light no more; For the work assigned her under the sun, is finished now and the victory won.
