Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst with the Revs. Dean Hanson and Bill Heermann officiating. Burial will be at Armada Cemetery in Miller. On Oct. 10, 1953, she married Lloyd Barth in Rapid City, S.D. Survivors include her daughters, Marcia Berg and her husband, Marlin, of Broken Bow, Cheryl Saathoff and her husband, Daren, of Franklin, Brenda Wilson and her husband, Jay, of Bertrand and Tammy Kenton and her husband, Chuck, of Lexington; son, David Barth and his wife, Tammy, of Kearney; brother, Ernest Wempen and his wife, Kathryn, of Overton; sisters-in-law, Delna Wempen of Minden and Beverly Wempen of Overton; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Mandy Berg, Greyden Smidt; Misty and Chase Freeman, Choncey and Chayten; Mick and Kelsey Berg; Megan Berg and fiancé Brandon Hunt; Cegie and Jeff Ludeke, Jillian and Jett; Jessica Wilson; Jamie Wilson; Kody Kenton; Kolin Kenton; Darin Barth; Courtney Barth; Heather and John Ellison, Taylor, Stephanie, Brittany and Skylar; Tina and Travis Newton, Traven and Timeree; and Aaron Timmens, Ian, Kinely, Brice and Carson. She attended District 63, Lone Star Country School and then graduated in 1953 from Sumner High School. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church on March 25, 1956, in Sumner. After living in Scottsbluff for 1½ years, she and Lloyd returned to the Sumner area where they raised their five children. During that time, Mary helped on the farm, did custom haying, worked in several hog farrowing confinements, at Coleman Manufacturing and at Tub's Pub. She was an extremely hard worker and always made sure the family was well taken care of. Mary was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sumner, Sumner Saddle Club, Senior Citizens of Miller and Sumner, and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Mary thoroughly enjoyed helping her brother, Ernie, and spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially on holidays. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson and two brothers.
