She was born in Rock Rapids, Iowa on Thursday, November 9th, 1922, to Amby and Viola Westendorf. She lived most of her life in Sioux Falls and in her later years Lake Madison was her favorite place to be. For most of her life she was a homemaker who loved her children Bill, Sharon, Jim, Dick, Tom and Bob. She loved and enjoyed time with her many relatives, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, craft making and crocheting. She was always working on an afghan, dressing a doll or inventing some new creation. She also enjoyed science fiction stories, movies and television. She was independent and self-reliant, insisting to drive and fly by herself and takes care of her own affairs until her passing. She often commented about her fortune to have many of her siblings, family and many friends so close to her and cherished her time with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Garity; her parents, Amby and Viola Westendorf; siblings, Earl Westendorf, Ambrose Westendorf, Doris Peterson, Neta Scott, Lois LaCome and Donna Brown.
