J. Umphrey, at the family residence southeast of Wapello. [The] deceased had been sick but a few days with pneumonia. [The] deceased was the daughter of Mrs. Harriet Copeland, of Morning Sun, and was born in Belmont County, Ohio, on October 25th, 1858. She came to Iowa with her parents in the year 1867. On August 15, 1876, she was united in marriage to T. J. Umphrey, and since that time has made her home in Morning Sun Township. To them were born six children--James G., of this city; Dayton, of Washington state; Eber, Hazel, Willa, Lorena and Geoffrey, at home. Besides her husband and children, [the] deceased leaves her mother and sister, Caroline Copeland, of Morning Sun, and one brother, Atwood, who resides in Los Angeles, California. The funeral services were held at the country home yesterday, conducted by Reverend J. E. Newsom, of this city, with internment in the Elmwood cemetery at Morning Sun.
