She was the widow of Dr. Melvin B. Lamberth, Jr. Born on August 9, 1922 at Cologne, Va. in King and Queen County, Mrs. Lamberth was the daughter of George and Ethel Trevilian. In 1942 she married Dr. Melvin B. “Joe” Lamberth, Jr. After the war they lived in Richmond, Va. where she was secretary to the vice president of Phillip Morris Company. In 1947 they moved to Kilmarnock. Mrs. Lamberth was very active in community events for many years. She was a member of the Lancaster County Junior Women’s Club and the Kilmarnock Garden Club, where she held several offices over the years. She and her husband were charter members of Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club, where she was a member of many committees, especially concerning social events. They were also members of the Rappahannock River Yacht Club, Windmill Point Yacht Club, and the Virginia Yacht Club. The Kilmarnock United Methodist Church was a big part of her life from 1947 until just a few years ago. She served on many committees and was active in the Methodist Women’s group. She started the Christmas Bazaar and made many gifts for sale, including over 200 gold angels. She was very involved with the Methodist Men’s spaghetti dinner which her husband started. Mrs. Lamberth will always be known for her beautiful flower arrangements, incredible food (she and her daughter published two cookbooks), gracious entertaining at home, and a devotion to family and friends. She is survived by a son, G. Frederick Lamberth and his wife, Donnie, of Leland , N.C.; her daughter, Patricia Bruce and her husband, William, of White Stone, Va.; four grandchildren, Mary L. Arnold( Richard) of Raleigh, N.C., Caroline L. Joyce(Doug) of Moorestown, N.J., Christopher L. Bruce of King William, Va. and Cathryn C. Bruce of Richmond, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Joyce, Nathan Joyce and Molly Joyce; a sister-in-law, Alice L. Scott of Richmond, Va.; nephews, George Rees of Atlanta, Ga. and Benjamin Scott of Austin, Texas; and a niece, Helen Scott Smith of Yardley, Pa. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Kilmarnock United Methodist Church, Kilmarnock, Va. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to Kilmarnock United Methodist Church, 89 East Church St., Kilmarnock, VA 22482.
