Description	:	Mary Cook Cruikshank, 87, passed Thursday, December 01, 2005 at her home on Jones Avenue. She was born in Frametown on August 26, 1918 in the rolling hills of Braxton County, the daughter of the late Morgan Letcher Cook and Susie Keener Cook. Mary was fondly known as the “Queen of the Felt Board” to many children attending the Fayetteville Baptist Church. Mary served Alderson-Broaddus College on the Board of Governors for several years and continued to support the school and even opened her home to visiting students. She was born in Frametown on August 26, 1918 in the rolling hills of Braxton County, the daughter of the late Morgan Letcher Cook and Susie Keener Cook. Mary was fondly known as the “Queen of the Felt Board” to many children attending the Fayetteville Baptist Church. Mary served Alderson-Broaddus College on the Board of Governors for several years and continued to support the school and even opened her home to visiting students. Mary, along with her brother, Paul, managed and partnered in Cook Department Stores. Her family had retail stores in Fayetteville, Gauley Bridge, Oak Hill and Summersville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Sharon Cruikshank Ellison, and her brother, Ernest Paul Cook. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Roy D. Cruikshank of Oak Hill. Also surviving her is her son, Stephen Michael and his wife, Sharon Cruikshank. Other survivors include Mary’s grandchildren: Morgan R. and Michael R. Cruikshank; her nieces and nephews, Mary Sue and Noel Revels, E. Paul and Patty Cook, Jr. and very close and special niece, Norma Jordan. Heartfelt thanks to her wonderful caregiver, Nola Treadway.
