MARY LANIGAN at the advance age of seventy six years. MRS. LANIGAN was one of the early settlers in this county and city, having resided here for the past fifty years. She is survived by four children, MRS. THOMAS WHALEN (SARAH); MISS JULIA LANIGAN; TIMOTHY and JAMES LANIGAN all of Ottumwa, Iowa. The funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m at St. Mary's Church, requiem high mass will be sung by Rev. Father Hoppmann over the remains. Interment will be made in the Calvary Cemetery. NOTE:(MARY ELLEN LANIGAN ) "West Mill Street changed to Pershing Avenue. It was also called Lincoln Street at one time and is now Gateway. This is my great grandmother MARY BURNS LANIGAN who was married to JOHN LANIGAN. Her father was TIMOTHY BURNS of Ireland. They had 8 children. Second child was Bridgett who died at Lockridge,in May of 1860. Jefferson CO IA, MARGARET,TIMOTHY,JULIA,SARAH and my grandfather JAMES ALOYSIOUS LANIGAN." The other 2 children I could not find. May have been born in Canada or New York. Mrs. Mary Lanigan aged 72 years wife of James A. Lanigan (JOHN ALOYSIOUS LANIGAN IS CORRECT HUSBAND) died at 6:45 o'clock Sunday morning at her home. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning. The remains will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. *John was her husband and not James.
