Description	:	God gained a beautiful angel on December 7, 2015, when Mary Catherine Spader, age 79 journeyed home to Heaven, surrounded by family. Her love lives on through her six children, 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Her love lives on through her six children, 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. The world was given a special gift on March 18, 1936, when Mary Catherine was born to George and Barbara Bangasser. Mary’s legacy began when she earned her teaching degree from Mt. Marty College and taught for two years at a country school near Epiphany, SD. She had her first dance with her true love, Vincent Spader, while attending the Hunters’ Ball. Their journey together began at the altar on June 8, 1957. The majority of their life was spent on the Spader family farm outside of Oldham, SD. Mary’s passion for teaching led her to become a religious education teacher for over 50 years. Her compassion for others led her and Vince to sponsor children in several countries, support the missionary work of Father Bob Spader and to be instrumental in the development of the Centro Ann Sullivan Del Peru; a school for children with different abilities. It was their charitable work across the world that helped to make the impossible possible for many. Mary taught us, not so much by her words, but by her actions. She experienced the greatest joy in serving others. Although you rarely saw Mary at the front of the room, it was her quiet strength that inspired many people to achieve great things throughout their Shaklee and Nikken careers. Grateful for having shared in her life are Cindy (Bill) Albrecht, DeSmet, SD; Kevin (Pam) Spader, DeSmet, SD; Melanie (Dennis) Brown, Sioux Falls, SD; Brenda (Steve) Hanley, Wentworth, SD; Vickie (Ivan) Fuller, Yardley, PA; Melinda (Mike) North, Sioux Falls, SD; sisters, Joyce (Donald) Spader, DeSmet, SD; Jeannie (Gerry) Schepmann, Lexington, SC; and brother, Bill Bangasser, Benttendorf, IA; and many wonderful family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vincent and her parents. We were blessed to witness Mary’s passion for the Lord throughout her life and will never forget how that deep faith expressed itself even in her final moments. Our prayer now is that Mom’s reunion with Dad in Heaven begins just as their love did….with a dance. The celebration of life will be held at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church in DeSmet, SD on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 10 a.m. Wake Services will be held Friday evening, December 11 from 5 – 7 pm, with rosary beginning at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota.
