Lundquist, resident of Spencer and vicinity for twenty-six years, who passed away at her home 181 East Seventh street, last Tuesday morning, were held at the Lundquist home last Friday morning at 1:30 o'clock and at the Swedish Lutheran church at two o'clock. Rev. G.L. Dagner, pastor of the local Swedish Lutheran church, officiated at the rites, and he was assisted by the Rev. W.F. Hurst, pastor of the Church of Christ of Spencer, who read a verse of scripture and prayer. Rev. Ed Lundquist of St. Paul, Minnesota, son of the deceased, read the twenty-third Psalm and offered prayer. The services were very impressive and were largely attended, the many beautiful floral tributes attesting the esteem in which Mrs. Lundquist was held. Two appropriate numbers, "Rock of Ages" and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me" were sung by the members of the choir. The pall bearers were the five sons and a nephew; Alvin Lundquist of Spencer. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery at Spencer. Relatives and friends from a distance who were in attendance at the funeral services included Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Halstead of Ames, Iowa, Mrs. Clara Fenney of Fairbanks, Iowa, A.E. Magussen and Mrs. Jay Hurd of Arnolds Park, Mrs. F.E. Martin of Winthrop, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Williams of Royal, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Holdren of Rockwell City, Iowqa, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Runkle of Gaylord, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. John Lieneman and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Johnson and two daughters of Winthrop, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lundquist and son, Robert, of Minneapolis, Rev. Ed Lundquist of St. Paul, Arthur Lundquist of Dexter, Minnesota, and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lundquist of Westbrook, Minnesota. Mrs. Lundquist's death followed an illness of several months. At the time of her death she was 74 years, 3 months and 25 days of age. Born January 4, 1856, in Sweden, Mrs. Lundquist, who was Miss Marie Peterson before her marriage, grew to young womanhood in Sweden. When about twenty years of age she decided to come to America to make her home, and she came to Altona, Illinois, to make her home with her brother who was residing there. She continued to make her home at Altona and on December 30, 1876, she was united in marriage to John P. Lundquist. Eight children were born to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Lundquist, all of whom, together with Mr. Lundquist were with their mother when she died. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lundquist remained at Altona, engaging in agricultural pursuits and in 1900 they came to Iowa. Their first home was near Dows, Iowa, where they lived for three years, and in 1903, they came to Spencer, settling on a farm east of Spencer where they farmed for eight years. About eighteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Lundquist retired and they had since made their home on East Seventh street. Surviving Mrs. Lundquist are her husband and eight children, Rev. Ed Lundquist of St. Paul, Harry Lundquist of Spencer, Mrs. C.C. Johnson and Mrs. John Lieneman both of Winthrop, Minnesota, Mrs. C.C. Runkle of Gaylord, Minnesota, Arthur Lundquist of Dexter, Minnesota, Alfred Lundquist of Westbrook, Minnesota, and Leo Lundquist of Minneapolis, thirty-one grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
