She was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Wakeman to John J. and Augusta Mockler Guthrie, who preceded her in death. She had been married to David McClain, who survives in Lima. Mrs. McClain was a homemaker and had worked at the Huddle Restaurant for several years, which her husband had started, where she was known as the "Pie Lady." Read More	Lima - Mary Catherine McClain, 88, died at 1:15 a.m. May 12, 2010, at the Lima Convalescent Home. She was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Wakeman to John J. and Augusta Mockler Guthrie, who preceded her in death. She had been married to David McClain, who survives in Lima. Mrs. McClain was a homemaker and had worked at the Huddle Restaurant for several years, which her husband had started, where she was known as the "Pie Lady." She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She had been a volunteer at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54. She was devoted to her daughters and grandchildren and very proud of her Irish heritage. She was considered to be a great mom, not only to her own children, but many others. Survivors include four daughters, Kay (William) Yokas and Molly Daley, both of Lima, Becky (Bob) Ordway, of Denver, and Ann Boyer, of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Maria McClain, David (Michelle) Wende, Joe (Kelle) Daley, Joshua (Marna) Wende, Megan (Mike) Cummings, Ryan (Jaclyn) Ordway and Emily Petrecca; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, George Killian, of Lima; and a sister-in-law, Zella Guthrie, of Centerville. She was preceded in death by an infant son, John Howard; three brothers, Thomas, Jack and James Guthrie; and a sister, Norlene Killian. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father David Ross will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, where a parish service will be held at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church or St. Rita's Hospice.
