Mary Catherine Mowry was born in Ohio on May 21, 1843. She died October 12, 1920 in Cheshire Township, Allegan County, Michigan and is buried in Loomis Cemetery, Allegan County. Father's name:Dan I have found evidence that she married William Thomas Warner on Sept 4, 1859 in Ohio. I do not have their marriage record yet. Not sure how to find it either. William Thomas Warner born Sept 21, 1833 in Pennsylvania, was the son of Jacob Warner and Lydia Jane Williams Warner. Next William and Mary can be found them in the 1860 Ohio census: 1860, Sandusky Township, Crawford County, Ohio. His parents lived in Sulphur Springs, Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio in 1860. In 1870, I find William and Mary living next door to his father in Nevada Township, Wyandot County, Ohio. In 1880, I find William and Mary in Ganges Township, Allegan County, Michigan, and he is listed as a farmer instead of a shoemaker, as he had been previously listed in all his records. They remained in Allegan County, Michigan the rest of their lives. Both are buried in Loomis Cemetery, Allegan County, Michigan. So I am thinking that seeing as how her death record names her father Dan, and the 1850 census shows Daniel Mowry and Elizabeth his wife living in Whetstone Township, Crawford County, Ohio with a daughter Mary C. of the right age, that this would be my line. Here is what that census says for the family: Daniel Mowry age 32, Laborer, born Pennsylvania Elizabeth age 27, born Pennsylvania Jacob A. age 11, born Pennsylvania Jno. B. age 10, born Pennsylvania Mary C. age 9, born Ohio Joseph B. age 8, born Ohio Jesse A. age 7, born Ohio Margaret A. age 3, born Ohio Elizabeth age 2, born Ohio Can anyone out there help me confirm that this is the correct line for Mary Catherine Mowry? The age seems right, and the County and State match. I know they did not record female births in that time. I could use some help with the line of Daniel and his family, and also would like to know more about Elizabeth's surname line if anyone knows anything about her. I do have one photo of Mary Catherine Mowry and her husband William Thomas Werner taken in their middle age. But family folklore tells that she lost 3 children total that she blamed on moving to Michigan by covered wagon, and the bitter cold of those first few years without proper heat and a proper home. Obituary Article:"The Allegan Gazette", Saturday October 23, 1920 Page 4. Mary Kathern Werner. Mary Kathern Mowery was born May 21, 1843, in Marion, Ohio, and died Oct. 13, 1920, at the age of seventy-seven years, four months, and twenty-three days. She was married to William Thomas Werner, Sept. 25, 1858, they living together fifty-five years. Mr. Werner having died five years ago, Oct 25. Eleven children were born of this union of whom six are living. In 1871 Mr. and Mrs. Werner came to Michigan in a covered wagon and settled for a short time in Valley Township, later moving to Ganges where they spent thirty-five years. Because of poor health they were unable to longer care for themselves so went to pss their remaining years with their son Orlando and wife, who faithfully cared for them. Although Mrs. Werner's home life was such that she was deprived of church priviledges, she never forgot her God and was often heard praying to Him. All feel sure she is in the arms of Jesus. Mrs. Werner was confined to bed, but was never heard to complain. She was a patient sufferer and at last peacefully went to sleep, not to awaken again in this world of pain and sorrow. One sister, six children, twenty-one grandchildren and one great grandchild are left to mourn thier loss.
