Ref: Tuesday, 17 Nov. 1908, Cedar Rapids, IA -- Death of Mrs. Rudd -- Sunday morning at 7 o'clock, at the residence of her son, John Rudd, 1660 North Fifth street west, occurred the death of Mrs. Mary C. Rudd. She was born in the state of Illinois in 1836 and when nine years old came to this state where she has resided continuously. She moved to this city nineteen years ago. At that time she became a member of the United Brethren church and has been a devout and consistent Christian. She was a loving mother and leaves six children to mourn her death. They are John, Miss Rose, and Mrs. John Marsh of this city, Lafayette Rudd of Little Porte, Iowa, Mrs. Sarah Bronson of Ellsworth, Kansas, and Miss Ella Rudd of Wakomis, OK. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the residence of her son, John. Rev. B. J. Clark, pastor of the United Brethren church, officiating. The remains will be shipped to Lee county, Mrs. Rudd's old home where interment will take place. Ref: Obituary - Wednesday, 18 Nov. 1908, Cedar Rapids, IA -- Mary A. Rudd was born May 21, 1837, in Galveston County (probably Gallatin Co.), Illinois. Died Nov. 15, 1908, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; age 71 years, 5 months and 14 days. With her parents she moved to Iowa from Illinois when but nine years of age, living in Lee county until about 19 years ago, when she, with her family, moved to Cedar Rapids, where she has since resided. She became a Christian in early life, and up to the day of her death was a faithful christian, and a member of the First United Brethren church of this city. Her husband died about 14 years ago, since which time she has lived with her son, Mr. John Rudd of 1600 North Fifth street west. She was the mother of thirteen children; seven are dead and six are living. Mr. Lafayette Rudd of Little Port, Iowa, Mr. John Rudd of this city, Mrs. Sarah Bronson of Ellsworth, Kansas, Mrs. Ella Rudd of Wakomis, Oklahoma, Mrs. Mira March, and Miss Rosie Rudd of Cedar Rapids. A brother and sister also survive. They are Ellen Wade and William Powers, both of this city. She was a faithful Mother, and kind hearted and earnest Christian woman; every one who knew her had nothing but good words for her. She will be missed in many places and many ways. The funeral was held at the home of her son with whom she had lived and where she died on Monday afternoon at three o'clock. Rev. Byron J. Clark of the First U. B. church officiating. The body was taken to Lee county for burial.
