Description	:	Mary Catherine Horger, wife of the late Charlton B. Horger, died at The Seabrook of Hilton Head on March 29, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Otto Disco and Zadie Victoria Dantzler Rhame. She was predeceased by a son, Charlton Bowen Horger, Jr. She attended schools in Holly Hill, SC. She entered Furman University at the age of 16 and graduated in 1938. She married Charlton Horger in August 1942 and lived in Orangeburg, SC for 62 years. In 2007, when she moved to Hilton Head, SC. She loved people and enjoyed social events of all kinds and descriptions. To miss a party was a rare and undesirable event for Mary Catherine. She was an avid bridge player, golfer and gardener. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church in Orangeburg, SC and Providence Presbyterian Church on Hilton Head Island. She cherished her involvement in the church and was blessed to be close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She is survived by a daughter: Catherine H. (Frank) Wannamaker of Hilton Head, SC; son: Robert R. (Ruth) Horger of Orangeburg, SC; grandchildren: Catherine M. (Nader) Wannamaker, C. Bowen (Susie) Horger, II and Ruth Vanstory Horger; as well as, four great-grandchildren. A visitation was held at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 5 to 7 PM. A graveside service was held at Memorial Park Cemetery on April 1, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Mary Catherine’s family appreciates the care and compassion of her caregivers: Karylee Brady, Cindy Travis, Gini Butler, Annette Howard and Ruby Starks; and Mary Catherine’s driver and friend, Jacque Cooley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to a charity of one’s choice. Dukes Harley Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.
