Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Epworth with Rev.Mark Ressler as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Epworth. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Reiff Funeral Home, Epworth. Mary Catherine Chapman was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Peosta, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Catherine (Fischer) Chapman. She married Elmer Ressler June 12, l950. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1997 Mary attended schools in Peosta, IA and Clarke University. Elmer and Mary farmed on his parents homestead in Worthington, Iowa until l964 when they moved to Epworth, IA. Mary was a homemaker, secretary, realtor, and newspaper carrier. She enjoyed playing the piano and was an accompanist for many weddings. She was an outstanding cook and was recently head chef at Frogwarts Camp. She was an excellent seamstress. She was a Cubs fan and enjoyed watching the West Dubuque Bobcats. She also enjoyed traveling and had visited Ireland, France, Hawaii, Alaska and many US destinations. She was an avid reader, loved Westerns and was the number l fan of the Lonely Goats band. She is survived by her l0 children, Karen (Ted) Buechele, of Asbury; Monica (Bob) Sack, of Delhi; Linda Ressler, of Epworth, Gladys Ressler, of Farley, Randy (special friend Jill Morgan) Ressler, of Kona, HI; Tom (Diana) Ressler, of Zionsville, IN; Amy (Marc Muehleip) Ressler, of Dubuque; Becky (Kent) Buckrop, of Taylor Ridge, IL; Bob Ressler, of Epworth, Mollie (Paul) Strief, of Eldridge, IA; her beloved dog Freckles; and her brother Joe Chapman, of Dubuque. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren, Teddy, Laura, Sarah, Jon, Jennnifer, Mike, Lisa, Leslie, A.J. Austin, Eva, Katie, Brian, Jackie, Margo, Mason, Rose, Jason, Dylan, Bowen, Jerome, Nicolas, Jacob, Petra, Alice, Hydra, Max, Zoe, Mariel, Gabriel, Isabel, Deven, and Brooklyn; and l4 great grandchildren, Esther, Elva, Magnus, Soren, Miley, Amaya, Luke, Audrey, Brielle, Elianna, Henry, Oliver, Isaac, and Liam. She is also preceded in death by her parents Edward and Catherine Chapman, two brothers Gerald and John, and an infant sister.
