(Murray) Winslow was born in Wyoming County, New York, May 22, 1839. Moved with her parents to Illinois at the age of 12 years. She was united in marriage with Richard Walton Winslow in 1859, and to this union were born four sons; 1- Willis Allen Winslow 2- Chauncey William Winslow 3- Fred Elsworth Winslow 4- Horace Clarence Winslow and six daughters; 5- Mrs. Alice Willmira Rakestraw of Siloam Springs, Ark. 6- Mrs. Fanny Ellen Culley of Strahan, Iowa 7- Mrs. Hattie Louise Relford of Quitman 8- Mrs. Cornelia Theresa Nance of Adams, Neb. 8- Mrs. Rosie Mary Demoss of Oklahoma 10- Mrs. Stella Elvira Branson of Quitman All living except Willis and Chauncey, and all were present except Mrs. Rakestraw. Mrs. Winslow was converted and united with the Presbyterian Church very early in life, and in January 1878, with her husband united with the Christian Church at Graves Point, Mo., and has been a member of that church since its organization in Quitman. Mrs. Winslow was a faithful companion, an affectionate mother, an earnest, consecrated Christian, a quiet, agreeable neighbor, and will be kindly remembered and greatly and sadly missed in all these circles of life she has so well filled. Her last words were in regard to the welfare of her family and the church. After arranging for her funeral service, she bade all a kind good bye and quietly fell asleep in the Master on January 1, 1908, at Strahan, Iowa, aged 68 years, 7 months, and 9 days. Funeral services from the Christian Church in Quitman, January 5, at 2 p.m. by Rev. J. N. Cole of Mound City, Mo., after which her body was laid to rest in the Quitman IOOF Cemetery to await the coming and call of him whom she loved and served."
