Her daughter, Miss Bernadette Gunning, who had occasion to pass through her room spoke to her and received a reply which gave no indication that the end was so close. Mrs. Gunning appeared in good health and was apparently better than for several weeks. Her daughter was only out of the room a few minutes when she returned to find that death had ensued. Mrs. Gunning was born and raised in Cumberland. She is survived by one son, Edward E. Gunning, deputy automobile commissioner; one daughter, Miss Bernadette Gunning and one grandchild, Eugene Gunning. The funeral will probably take place at 9 o'clock Monday morning with services at St. Patrick's Church . Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Gunning was a daughter of the late George F. Dowden, who lived to reach an advance age. She successfully conducted a grocery business for years at Baltimore Avenue and Decatur Street. She was of charming presence and affable and obliging manner. She possessed keen business sense and was held in general high esteem. Mrs. Gunning was a sister-in-law of John B. Gunning, of Cresaptown. Mrs. Gunning’s only sister, Miss Margaret Dowden, resided with her as did a cousin, Miss Agnes Cronin.
