Mary Brun Ebelmesser, 83, daughter of Christian and Dorotha Brun was born April 1,1863 at Mecklenburg,Germany, and died at her home at Wetmore October 7.At an early age she came with her parents to America settling st Whiting, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to David C. Ebelmesser of Muscotah, May 3, 1885, and they established their home at Whiting. A few years later they moved to Greenleaf, where Mr. Ebelmesser operated a meat market for a number of years. In 1911 they moved to Wetmore where they purchased a farm just north of town which they greatly improved the soil and built a comfortable home. There were two sons born to this union, David C. and Lloyd A. who graduated from Wetmore school, and later they bought a home in town where Mr. Ebelmesser was engaged in business until his health failed. On May 3,1935 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary and the following year, September 5,1936 Mr. Ebelmesser died. Mrs. Ebelmesser remained in the home and kept busy with her church work, being a faithful member of the Methodist church from girlhood. She loved to work with her flowers which she shared with her friends. She was a member of Eastern Star, and a continuous member of the Rebekahs for more than 55 years. She was very fond of the Kensington club being treasurer for many years, and attending the last meeting September 12. Besides her sons, David C. Of Wetmore, Lloyd A. of Kansas City, their wives and one granddaughter, Patricia Ann of whom she was very proud, and many relatives and friends who attended the services to pay their respects. Pallbearers were Dr. A.P. Lapham, R.L. Hart, Donald Cordon, Roy Shumaker, C.L. Duckers, Kenneth Zabel. Mrs. C.L. Duckers, Miss Ruby ODonnell, Miss Clara Hough helped with the flowers. Interment was beside her husband in the Wetmore cemetery. Out of town relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Brun, Mr.and Mrs. Fred Brun, Greenleaf; Charley Brun, Mr.and Mrs. Ernest Tinkling, Atchison; Mr.and Mrs. William Brun, Effingham; Mrs. Bernice Preeze, Mrs. Preeze, Whiting; also a friend and former neighbor, Mrs. P.W.
