Annapolis Spectator, Thursday, November 17, 1927: Obituary The death occurred on October 30 at the home of her daughter, Mrs Keith Mailman of South Milford, Annapolis Co, of Mrs Mary E Charlton. She was one of the original pioneer settlers of South Milford. She went there 76 years ago with her parents, Mr and Mrs Delong from Kempt, Queen's Co. and passed her 90th birthday in August last. There she was married and there her husband predeceased her 28 years ago. They had 10 children, 8... She was one of the original pioneer settlers of South Milford. She went there 76 years ago with her parents, Mr and Mrs Delong from Kempt, Queen's Co. and passed her 90th birthday in August last. There she was married and there her husband predeceased her 28 years ago. They had 10 children, 8 of whom are still alive: the eldest Walter having with his own son, been killed in the War in 1917. Another son of Mrs Mary E Charlton (Jesse) died about 4 years ago. Those still living are: Albert in Westboro, Mass; William, Eunice (Mrs Harry Snow) and Miss Bessie in Brockton, Mass.; Enoch in Aylesford, Nova Scotia; Charles and Christine (Mrs Leth Mailman) in Milford, and Rachael (Mrs John Peters) in Assonet, Mass. Mrs Charlton also leaves 2 sisters living: Mrs Eleanor Milner, age 86 in Wakefield, Mass.; and Mrs Essie Blair in Amherst, NH. The funeral took place on Nov 1 at Milford, Reverend GC Durkee officiating. A noteworthy tribute to the high character and efficiency of Mrs Charlton was her record as a nurse, she having attended at the birth of 125 children, more than half of whom without a physician at the time.
