Mrs. Mary Muckler, 102, a resident of the IOOF Home in Dell Rapid for the past ten years, died in the Dell Rapids Community Hospital Sept. 19. Funeral services were held Monday in Miller funeral Home, Sioux Falls, with the Rev. David Jones of the Dell Rapids Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers were Lloyd Schimmel, George Ring, Dick Begeman, Jim Mann, Ralph Tripp and Clarence Olson. Mrs. C.B. Van Ausdall was at the organ and interment took place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Born near Davenport, Iowa, January 10, 1867, she married Fredrick Muckler on Jan 13, 1886. They moved to a farm near Spencer, S.D. and then to Sioux Falls in 1904 and operated a dairy east of there. Her husband died in an accident in 1920. She came to the IOOF Home in Dell Rapids in 1959 and was a 50 year member of Rebekah Lodge No. 7, Sioux Falls. Mrs. Muckler enjoyed radio television and, most particularly people, and remained alert and full of zest. She suffered a broken hip in August and had since been a patient in the Dell Rapids Hospital. She is survived by two sons, Henry, Sioux Falls and Ray, Humboldt; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Schimmel, Spencer, four grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
