She had been in poor health for some time but her condition had not been considered serious until Sunday, March 19, when she was suddenly stricken with a paralytic stroke and never regained consciousness. Mary E. O'Callaghan was born in Clay township, Jones county, Iowa, as the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick O'Callaghan, March 6, 1863. She was married to Bernard G. Curley at the cathedral in Dubuque, Nov. 6, 1894. To this union were born four daughters: Rosalyn, now Mrs. Edward Kurt; Martina and Verna of Cascade. Bernice died in infancy. Mrs. Curley was a true type of Christian womanhood, an ideal wife and mother and a staunch Catholic. Her thoughts were always centered in her home, using every effort to make home pleasant for all. To the neighbors she was kind and congenial, lending a helping hand when the opportunity presented itself. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband and daughters by their scores of friends, in the loss of a devoted wife and mother. The funeral services were held at St. Martin's church at 9 o'clock. Rev. Thomas Rooney officiating in the requiem high mass and at the grave. The pall bearers were Thomas McGovern, H. L. Dehner, James P. Koster, John O'Brien, Mathias Bisenius, Dr. L. F. Barrett, J. T. Conlin and Dr. Dean Barrett.
