Description	:	Partial obituary follows: "Mary E. Smith was born at Louisville, Ind., Oct. 24, 1833, and died at the home of her son, Elvert Fletcher, at LaJunta, Colo., March 27, 1921. She was married to Louis Fletcher June 12, 1850. He passed to the heavenly home October 12, 1899, Mrs. Fletcher was a Christian from early childhood and a member of the Presbyterian church for at least fifty years. Was faithful and true to Her Lord and her church. The funeral service was conducted by her pastor at LaJunta. The body was brought to Harper and laid by the... Read More	Partial obituary follows: "Mary E. Smith was born at Louisville, Ind., Oct. 24, 1833, and died at the home of her son, Elvert Fletcher, at LaJunta, Colo., March 27, 1921. She was married to Louis Fletcher June 12, 1850. He passed to the heavenly home October 12, 1899, Mrs. Fletcher was a Christian from early childhood and a member of the Presbyterian church for at least fifty years. Was faithful and true to Her Lord and her church. The funeral service was conducted by her pastor at LaJunta. The body was brought to Harper and laid by the side of her husband March 29, Rev. Davis having charge of the service at the grave. The floral offerings were beautiful. The Fletcher family came from Indiana with their entire family, except the oldest daughter who was married and remained behind, in the year 1879. Mrs, Fletcher in those early days of pioneer life proved her worth by her kindly spirit to all who came in contact with her. A mother to young mothers who needed a helping hand, her ministry will not be forgotten by the early settlers of Harper she leaves three sons and three daughters. Mrs. H. Riggle, of Liberal. Kansas; Mrs, J, Nugen, of Harper; John Fletcher, of Geuda Springs, Kansas; Mrs, E. Burns, of Albuquerque, N. M.; W. Fletcher, Scott county, Kansas; E. Fletcher, of LaJunta, Colo. These were all present to see their mother laid away, except Mrs. Burns; also two grandsons from a, distance Glenn Burns, from, Albuquerque, N. M., and John Riggle, of Liberal, Kansas, She had twenty-eight grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren."
