Walker died at her home in this city Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, in the presence of all the members of her own and her father's families except one brother. She had been ill for several months with consumption and within the last few weeks had been declining rapidly. Her death though not unexpected brought with it the feeling of loss that can only follow the death of a wife and mother. The funeral was held in the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock. In the absence of the pastor the service was conducted by Rev. Robinson, pastor of the Cumberland Baptist church. The body was buried in Victoria cemetery on the family lot where the mother of the husband of the deceased has rested for many years. Mary F. South was born in Knox county, Illinois, on the 15th day of November, 1869. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. South came with their family to Iowa in 1883 and settled in Cass county. She was married to Abraham H. Walker October 8, 1889. To them was born one child, Verdie, who with her father remains to mourn the loss of a tender and loving wife and mother. Mrs. Walker was a woman with whom the love of home and associations with its inmates was exceptionally strong and her council and influence were always in the direction of wisdom and right. She was a Christian and a member of the M. E. church and a good neighbor and friend. To the bereaved husband and daughter and other relatives is extended in generous measure they sympathy of the community. - Massena Echo
