As a wife... Read More	OBITUARY Died in Northville, South Dakota, Nov. 14, 1890, Mary McPherrin, wife of John McPherrin and daughter of Wesley Walker. The deceased was born in Keosauqua December 3, 1851. She grew in womanhood and was educated here. Embraced Christianity at the age of 16; was married to John McPherrin dec. 21, 1876, was a woman of noble traits of character. As a daughter she was kind and submissive to her parents, although losing her mother, what she was young; but she assumed the responsibilities of housekeeping with skill and judgment beyond one of her years. As a wife she was all that word means; she was affectionate, a true help-mate, always striving to make her home a happy place for husband. As a neighbor, she was a friend to all, none asking a favor was sent away empty, if in her power to relieve. She consented without a word of opposition to leave her native town and state, father and many friends to make a home in a new and strange country, to encounter many privations incident thereto, and under such circumstances her health failed and after suffering for months she gave birth to a beautiful girl baby, but both mother and babe, died very soon, and both were laid in the same casket, and brought to Keosauqua for interment. Funeral services were held in the Christian chapel in South Keosauqua, conducted by the writer on Nov. 19, a large procession followed their remains to their last resting place. NORTHVILLE, S.D., Nov. 19, 1890. The following resolutions were adopted at the special meeting of the Ladies Aid, on the death of Mrs. Mary McPerrin. WHEREAS, death has entered our society and removed from our midst a useful member and kind neighbor. Resolved, That while we bow to the will of one All-wise Heavenly Father, who doeth all things well, that our lost is heaven's gain. Resolved, That we extend to the bereaved husband our sympathy, who has lost a loving and devoted wife. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be present to the husband, and that they be entered on the records of the Ladies Aid, and a copy be published in the Northville Advance and Keosauqua REPUBLICAN. + + + + + + + CARD OF THANKS. To the noble hearted ladies, dear relatives and friends who assisted by their presence to relieve my distress on arrival at this place with the remains of my wife and child, also to my brother Odd Fellows who so generously contributed by their presence and assistance, I wish to express the sincere gratitude of my heart.
