WOLF PIONEER Mary Electa Wolf was born on Thursday, April, 13, 1882 at McDonald County, Mo. and died very suddenly Monday morning, April 9th,1951 at her home in White Salmon. She was the youngest and last living daughter of Peter and Malinda Groshong. With her parents, brothers and sisters she crossed the plains in a covered wagon and arrived at White Salmon about 1886 at the age of three. Her great grandfather Groshong came from France and helped the struggling colonies with their Independence under Lafayette and after the Revolution settled in Charleston, S.C. where William Groshong, the father of Peter and grandfather of Mary was born. Also, her greatgrandfather, Abraham Savage, of Buckland, Massachusetts served through out the Revolutionary War. For the past two years she has enjoyed the hill of her childhood-days and was happy to live near her old home and brother Joe. Mrs. Wolfe spent a good many years of her life in serving and caring for sick members of her family. She devoted almost 2 years of her life to her niece, Della Groff and was always ready to help any one she could. She was a member of Portland Chapter No. 97 of the Order of Eastern Star for many years. She is survived by her brother, Joe Groshong of Husum, Wash., her husband, Walter Wolfe, two daughters, Dorothy Crume and Lucille Davison of Seattle, Wash., three grandsons, one great grandson, and many nieces and nephews, and friends. Funeral Services were conducted in Gardners Funeral Home Thursday, April 12th at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. George officiating. Mrs. Lee Whiting sang "Going Home" and "City Four Square".
