Bertsch, Cambridge City, Dies; Rites Held Cambridge City - Mary Elizabeth Bertsch, age 64, a resident of Cambridge City, died Friday night at the Rest Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle, after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Susan Howard Bertsch, attended Cambridge City schools and Earlham College for two years. Bertsch, Cambridge City, Dies; Rites Held Cambridge City - Mary Elizabeth Bertsch, age 64, a resident of Cambridge City, died Friday night at the Rest Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle, after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Susan Howard Bertsch, attended Cambridge City schools and Earlham College for two years. In 1915, Miss Bertsch received the BS degree at Battle Creek and was employed at Battle Creek Sanitarium for several years. In 1931, she was granted the MA degree at Columbia University through Teachers College. She served as dietician through 1919 to 1921, and taught Home Economics in New Jersey Schools of Passaic and New Brunswick for 15 years. In 1944, she retired and returned to Cambridge City. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of East Germantown; Order of Eastern Star No. 510 of Cambridge City; Old Trails Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution; the American Legion Auxiliary of Cambridge City; and the Friday Study Club. She is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Russell Worl and Mrs. Ruth Bond of Cambridge City; three brothers: Alvin of St. Petersburg, FL and Cambridge City; Harry and Robert of Cambridge City; and six nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Howard and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Leslie Yeager of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at the Lutheran Cemetery, East Germantown. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime. (Contributor: Angels A-Far)
