Description	:	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Mary Elizabeth Burch Tilley passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Central Continuing Care. She was born in Surry County on Dec. 17, 1921, to Roy Sadie Burch and Nancy Elizabeth Jessup Burch. Mrs. Tilley was of the Baptist faith and was a former Sunday school teacher at Woodville Baptist Church. In high school, she was a star basketball player at Westfield High School, but her greatest accomplishment was being a great mother who always provided for her children and gave them all the love that any mother could give her children. She was preceded in... Read More	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Mary Elizabeth Burch Tilley passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Central Continuing Care. She was born in Surry County on Dec. 17, 1921, to Roy Sadie Burch and Nancy Elizabeth Jessup Burch. Mrs. Tilley was of the Baptist faith and was a former Sunday school teacher at Woodville Baptist Church. In high school, she was a star basketball player at Westfield High School, but her greatest accomplishment was being a great mother who always provided for her children and gave them all the love that any mother could give her children. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Burch and Roy L. Burch Jr.; husband, Glenn R. Tilley Sr.; and a son, Terry Craig Tilley. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Lynn Tilley Arrington and husband Mickey; two sons, Phillip Bruce Tilley and wife Penny, Glenn R. Tilley Jr. and wife Barbara; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, March 2, at Westfield Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Miller officiating. There will not be a formal visitation. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Mountain Valley Hospice. A special thank you to the caring staff at Central Continuing Care and Mountain Valley Hospice. We appreciate the compassion, care and love you gave our mother. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is assisting the Tilley family.
