Description	:	Mary Elizabeth Belt, oldest child of Nathan A and Dollie Kelly Clark was born may 14, 1901 at Council Grove, Kansas. She passed away May 14, 1986 at Newman Hospital, Emporia, at the age of 85. Mary attended elementary school in Council Grove, and had worked in several business places. She passed away May 14, 1986 at Newman Hospital, Emporia, at the age of 85. Mary attended elementary school in Council Grove, and had worked in several business places. Her first husband, Rex Lee, preceded her in death. Two daughters from this marriage, Mildred Edith Lee and Dorothy Nadine Lee, also passed away. She married Henry Jefferson Belt on October 12, 1926. To this union was born one daughter, Mary Darlene, and three sons, Richard Leland, Kenneth Dean and Glenn LeRoy. She and her husband lived around Council Grove and Dunlap until 1951 when they moved to Emporia. Mr. Belt passed away Nov. 17, 1974. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Clark and Bertha Carson, and two brothers, Nathan and Everett Clark. Mary worked at Newman Hospital in Emporia as a nurse's aide for 12 years. She later cared for elderly people in her home, always thoughtful, loving and caring to them in their aging years. She was a kind and loving mother, and very devoted to her family. Also, an active person, always dedicated to helping others, and never expecting anything in return. Her love for gardening and growing flowers was shown by the beautiful gardens she produced, and the well kept flower laden yard and plants she nurtured. She was especially fond of African Violets, and had many specimens. Mary loved the Lord and lived a faithful and trusting life. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Emporia. Her health had failed in the past year, and she had been making her home with her daughter, Darlene and her husband, Orville in Americus. She is survived by three sons, Richard and Glenn Belt of Emporia, Kenneth of Topeka, one daughter Darlene Worcester of Americus and one step-daughter Beulah Arnett , Tulsa, Okla and a step-son, Earl Read also of Tulsa. Twelve grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and a sister Delldee Allen of San Bernadino, Calif. Also survive. Funeral services were held May 18, 1986 at the Kendall Funeral Chapel.
