Description	:	Mrs. Mary Katon, widow of the late Granville B. Katon, died suddenly at her home on West Adams street about ten o'clock Monday morning of an acute attack of gastritis which induced heart complications. Mrs. Katon had not been in good health for several weeks, but seemingly had been as well as usual when she began washing in the morning. Read More	Mrs. Mary Katon, widow of the late Granville B. Katon, died suddenly at her home on West Adams street about ten o'clock Monday morning of an acute attack of gastritis which induced heart complications. Mrs. Katon had not been in good health for several weeks, but seemingly had been as well as usual when she began washing in the morning. She was stricken just as she had finished the washing and complained for a few minutes and then seeming to feel better started across the room and fell. Her son John Katon was at home with her and a roomer, Mrs. Smith. The son was at the phone to call a doctor when she fell. He and Mrs. Smith used restoratives until the physician arrived but death had taken place when he got there. A few weeks ago Mrs. Katon had suffered a severe attack of gastritis and had been under the physicians care for several days and had complained of light attacks several times following her first recovery. She was sixty-four years of age, having been born in Ohio, March 8th, 1855 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Heckard. Her mother died when she was about three years of age and she was reared to womanhood by a Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brown, of Ohio. The family moved to Missouri, and it was there that she met Mr. Katon, a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Brown. They were wedded July 3rd, 1878. They resided on a farm in that community only about a year when they came to Tipton county. They resided on the Katon farm in the Independence neighborhood, now owned by Mrs. Charity Katon, and moved to Tipton about thirty-five years ago and lived in the west Adams street home about thirty-three years. To this union three children survive. One died in infancy, John W. Katon, of Tipton, Melville B. Katon, of Muncie and Mrs. Nathan Ryan, of Kempton. She is also survived by five grand children. No funeral arrangements have been made at the time of going to press.
