While she was very young her parents moved to Iowa, a few years later to Missouri, then still later to Ohio, and after another period of a few years returned to Missouri. She was married to Thomas Cellan September 1, 1867. In 1881 they came to Nebraska where they spent the remainder of their lives. Mary Elizabeth Hubbartt was born near Indianapolis, Ind., May 16, 1846. While she was very young her parents moved to Iowa, a few years later to Missouri, then still later to Ohio, and after another period of a few years returned to Missouri. She was married to Thomas Cellan September 1, 1867. In 1881 they came to Nebraska where they spent the remainder of their lives. To them were born one son, Charles, who resides near Ong, Neb., and two daughters. Mrs. Sarah Mabel Smith of Nelson, Neb., and Mrs. Baina Melcena Ritchey living near Grafton. Besides the son and daughters, she leaves to mourn her death, two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Schupbach and Mrs. Alice Drummond, both residing in Ohiowa. There are also eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. About seventeen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Cellan moved from the country into Geneva and only a few months later death took Mr. Cellan. Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death. She became a Christian in early youth and united with the Methodist church. On reaching Nebraska she joined the United Brethren church, of which she remained a faithful member to the end. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Smith, near Nelson, Neb., January 15, 1931, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 29 days. Funeral services were held in the United Brethren church in Geneva at 2 p.m. Saturday and were conducted by Rev. E. H. Pontius. The body was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Geneva cemetery. Genealogy records show married in Downing, Schuyler County, Missouri.
