She is survived by her son John Oliver Gernannt and his son Addison Blake Gernannt and his wife Jessie and daughter Sarah Elizabeth Gernannt, all of Macon, GA. Her daughter is Susan Dawn Sanders and her husband Tom and their children Anna Elizabeth, Mary Claire, and Andrew Jackson Sanders, all of Albany, GA. Mary's daughter is Julie Elizabeth Wood and her late son was Robbie Ray Wood. Mary's siblings who preceded her in death were Barbara Ann, Ralph, and Wayne Jacobs and Jean Watts. She is survived by her sister Joyce Wood and her husband Jimmy from Gainesville, FL. She has a number of nephews and nieces around the country. Mary was born on October 20, 1935 in DeLand, FL to her late parents Ophelia and John Jacobs. She grew up in Gainesville, FL and spent most of her adult life there and at various locations in Georgia. The latter part of her career was on the staff of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, where Mary enjoyed serving families in their time of need. She volunteered with Alachua General Hospital. Since 2008, she has been a resident of Albany, GA where she enjoyed her final years living with Susan and her family and visits from John and his family. Mary was blessed to be a member of Sherwood Baptist Church where she was a member of the Abigail Sunday School Class. Donations in her memory should be directed to the Willson Hospice House, which ministered so greatly to Mary and her family in her last days. The family will receive visitors in the Atrium of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA starting at 10:00 am on Friday, April 17, with the service to follow in the Chapel at Sherwood at 11:00 am.
