Description	:	LAUREL — Mary Elizabeth Wegh, 88, of Laurel, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at home surrounded by her children. Mary was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Lefor, N.D., the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Kaufman. She was raised on the family farm in the New England area. She married her sweetheart, husband of 55 years, John Wegh, on Oct. 9, 1945. They farmed in North Dakota until they moved to Laurel in 1952. Read More	LAUREL — Mary Elizabeth Wegh, 88, of Laurel, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at home surrounded by her children. Mary was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Lefor, N.D., the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Kaufman. She was raised on the family farm in the New England area. She married her sweetheart, husband of 55 years, John Wegh, on Oct. 9, 1945. They farmed in North Dakota until they moved to Laurel in 1952. Mary was a wife and devoted mother to her own children and those of others. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, crafts, and most of all, cards! She was always the first one to offer a hand, no matter what the task may be. Mary was a member of the Legion of Mary Altar Society, and she and John spent many years traveling in the motor home as members of the Good Sam Galavanter's Club. After John's death she became an active member at the Laurel Senior Center. Mary cherished her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, following their activities and always being the rock they depended upon. Mary was preceded in death by her husband John; parents; and brothers Carl, Edward and Pete. She will be dearly missed by her four children: Ron (Jeanette) Wegh, of Surprise, Ariz., Janice Wegh, of Phoenix, Jim (Diane) Wegh, of Laurel, and Christy (Dave) Mills, of Laurel; seven grandchildren, Tawni (Matt) Pettis, Keri (Joey) Tignini, Michael (Patty) Kautz, Kristen (Ryan) VanDyke, Darcy (Mike) Newton, Erin Mills and John Mills; and six great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by one brother, Elven (Kathy) Kaufman, of New England, N.D. Vigil service will be held at Smith Funeral Chapel, Sunday, July 20, at 7 p.m. Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's name to the Laurel Senior Center.
