On Sat, Dec. 1, 2012, services were held at Decatur United Methodist Church with Pastor Phil Sloat officiating. Mary Elizabeth Kessinger was born Feb 28, 1920, near Pender, Neb., to Francis and Clara (Glissman) Kessinger. She was raised on their farm in the Thurston/Burt Co area where she attended grade schools. She was a 1937 graduate of Decatur High School. Mary Elizabeth Kessinger was born Feb 28, 1920, near Pender, Neb., to Francis and Clara (Glissman) Kessinger. She was raised on their farm in the Thurston/Burt Co area where she attended grade schools. She was a 1937 graduate of Decatur High School. Mary and Raymond Gallup were united in marriage in 1940 at Dakota City, NE and from this union three children were born: Larry, Bonnie and Linda. Raymond and Mary farmed in the Blackbird Community, and then moved to Decatur in 1945 where they owned and operated businesses. Raymond passed away in 1953. Mary and Ralph Chase were united in marriage in 1961 in Tekamah, NE. She was an active member and leader of United Methodist Church, UMW, Democratic Women, Decatur VFW Auxilary, Decatur Senior Center Board and a 50-year member of Eastern Star. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Raymond and Ralph; son, Larry; brothers, Glen, Frank and Warren (Jack); and sister, Katherine. She is survived by her daughters, stepdaughters and stepsons, and daughter-in-law, 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She elected to donate her body to University Medical Center.
