Kingsbury Buried in Ames Municipal Cemetery* Mrs. Charles Kingsbury Mary Elizabeth Kingsbury, 5th child of William Vance and Jeanette Kyle, was born Sept. 1, 1867, on a farm southeast of Ames, known as the Hakes farm, in Grant township. She passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1946, at her home south and east of Ames. Sh had been ill several weeks before going to Iowa City, where she had a major operation from which she did not rally. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Kingsbury at her home Nov. 15, 1888. To this union were born seven sons, all living all present at the time of her death. They are Ivan, of Rochester, Minn.; Ralph of Rochelle, Ill.; John of Austin, Minn.; Dale of Ames; Ben of Oregon; Walter of Nevada, and Henry at home. Before her marriage she taught school for several years at Enterprise, Scott Valley and Slater. She was a member of the Methodist church joining at Napier. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Auxiliary of Foreign Wars of Nevada, Grant Township Community club and the W. H. B. club. Mrs. Kingsbury was a devoted wife and mother. Her home and family were always her first consideration. She is survived by her husband, seven sons and one sister, Nan A. Kyle of Boone. There are 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren besides a number of other relatives and host of friends. Six sons served as pall bearers. She was buried in the Ames Municipal cemetery.* *SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to cemetery records, both Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Kingsbury were buried in Story Memorial Gardens in Ames, Iowa.
