Most of her relatives and all but one close friend were waiting for her. Mary Elizabeth was born July 26th, 1912, the last of 11 children, to John Robert Laramore (1857-1929) and Canzadia Anderson (1869-1935) in Culdesac, Idaho. After a fire destroyed their farm in Idaho, the family moved to Vernonia, Oregon, where Mary attended school, graduating from Vernonia High School in 1930. There she met one of the dashing Heath boys—Harvey, who was visiting his brother, Bill. They eloped that same year and spent the first of their 64 years together on the coast. World War II found them in Tacoma, WA and Harvey working as a pipe fitter in the shipyards. When his brother, Eldred, joined the Army, Mary and Harvey moved back to his family wheat farm in Reardan, WA to help his father. After the war, they moved to Spokane, WA. In 1945 daughter Sandra was born. Mary was a member of one of the first generations of women to work outside the home. She was a sales person at Sears, sold Avon and Tupperware, and finally retired from the House of Fabrics in 1977. With the birth of her two precious grandsons, Bryan and Justin, Jackson Hole, WY became a favorite destination. She and Harvey enjoyed traveling and spent many fun-filled winters as snowbirds in Yuma, AZ. With Harvey's passing in 1990, Badger Lake became her second home. There she loved to relax on the deck with friends and family and go boating with the boys. In 1998, with the progression of her post-polio, Mary moved to her daughter's farm near Reardan where she was able to enjoy the arrival of each of her four beloved great-grandchildren. She credited her longevity to their daily antics which delighted her. She was a much loved part of many generations and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter,Sandra (Dale) Rhodes; grandsons, Bryan (Lisa) Rhodes and Justin (Dawn) Rhodes; and great-grandchildren, Collin, Ashley, Lauren and Lindsey, all of Spokane; sisters-in-law, Mary Elva Heath of Missoula, MT and Val Frounfelter of Yuma, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on May 21, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery. Mary found her spiritual home at Unity Church, 2900 S. Bernard, Spokane, WA 99203 where donations in her name may be made in lieu of flowers.
