A note yesterday from him makes correction in accordance with the facts. Shelbina Democrat, Shelbina, Missouri, October 12, 1887, Page 1, Column 4 FROM SHELBYVILLE. DEATH OF AN ESTIMABLE WOMAN. On last Sunday about 11 o'clock Mrs. Boettcher, the wife of Frederick Boettcher, living two miles southeast of here, swallowed about an ounce of carbolic acid, and in less than an hour she was dead. It is not fully known whether the lotion was taken by mistake or with suicidal intent. She never spoke after taking the acid. As soon as her condition was discovered—which was in a few moments—a runner was hurried off after medical aid, but she died before the doctors arrived. Mrs B., had been sick for some days but was thought to be better. She and young Mr. B., were married about a year ago, and she was an estimable lady. She was the daughter of Mr. Martin of Monroe county, whither they took her yesterday for burial. Mr. B., is the eldest son of C. F. Boettcher, who is well known as one of the well to do farmers of Shelby co. Young Mr. Boettcher has the sympathy of all who know him, in this sad bereavement.
