Description	:	MARY W. WILLIAMS Mary Elizabeth Williams, a resident of Vero Beach since 2004, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Indian River Memorial Hospital, Vero Beach, FL. Known always as "Mimi," Mrs. Williams was born in Centerbrook, CT on October 13, 1921 to Ethel Dudley and Northam Lancaster Wright. WILLIAMS Mary Elizabeth Williams, a resident of Vero Beach since 2004, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Indian River Memorial Hospital, Vero Beach, FL. Known always as "Mimi," Mrs. Williams was born in Centerbrook, CT on October 13, 1921 to Ethel Dudley and Northam Lancaster Wright. She attended Edgewood Park School in Briarcliff Manor, NY before marrying Army Lt. Charles (Cap) McKew Parr, Jr., of Chester, CT., in 1940. After the war, the couple resided in New Jersey and raised their three children in Maplewood; Mr. Parr died in 1969. In 1975, she married Dr. William Eric Williams, son of American poet William Carlos Williams, and resided in Rutherford, NJ. Dr. Williams passed away in 1994. In her early years, Mrs. Williams was an accomplished horsewoman. Throughout her life, she remained active in politics and served as a volunteer in civic, church and private organizations. For 15 years, she was a partner in a realty firm in Millburn, New Jersey. Mrs. Williams was an avid reader, enthusiastic museum-goer, and traveler. She painted in watercolors and was knowledgeable about and a collector of art and antiques. A gracious and reserved lady, Mrs. Williams gave quietly and generously to many causes that touched her sensibilities and heart, including the arts, conservation and wildlife organizations, and animal shelters. Mrs. Williams was predeceased by her beloved parents and her brother, Dudley Lancaster Wright. Survivors include her son Charles McKew Parr, III of Morris Plains, NJ; son Northam Dudley Parr of Rumney, NH; and daughter Laura Elizabeth Parr Barr of Vero Beach, FL; nephew Dudley Lancaster Wright of Shirley, MA; beloved brother-in-law Alexander Shipman Parr and niece Leslie Ruth Parr of Montpelier, VT; nephew Alexander Shipman Parr, Jr. of Bound Brook, NJ; stepdaughters Daphne Williams Fox, Erica Williams, Elaine Williams, and Emily Williams; and grandsons Northam Dudley Parr, Jr., Geoffrey Lancaster Parr, David Caverhill Parr, and Daniel Horton Parr. A private family service and interment will be held in Centerbrook, Connecticut at a later date. Williams, a pediatrician of Rutherford, N. J. The Rev. R. Craig Burlington, rector of St. George's Episcopal Church in Maplewood, performed the ceremony at the home of the bride, who is the daughter of the late Mrs. Thomas J. Hackett of Essex. Conn.. and the late Northam Lancaster Wright of Centerbrook, Conn. Dr. Williams is the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. William Carlos Williams of Rutherford. The bridegroom's father. physician and poet, won the 1963 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for "Pictures From Breughel." The bridegroom's mother was the former Florence Herman, known as Flossie, the subject or many of the greatest love poems of her husband. recipient in 1963 of the Gold Medal for Poetry from the National Institute of Arts and Letters. The bride is a realtor with Allen K. Harris & Company in Millburn, N. J. She was graduated from the Edgewood Park School and attended Edgewood Park Junior College. This is the bride's third marriage. Her first husband, Charles M. Parr Jr., died, and her second marriage ended in divorce. Her father was president of the Essex (N. J.) National Bank and later treasurer of the former Connecticut Valley Manufacturing Company in Centerbrook. Dr. Williams, an alumnus of Williams College and the Cornell Medical School, is attending pediatrician at Hackensack (N. J.) Hospital.
