MARY ELIZABETH OSBORN was born September 26, 1918 in Chalk Level, MO, the oldest of four children born to Benjamin Harrison and Nellie Mae (Hicks) Osborn. She moved with her family from Osceola, MO to Centerville, SD at the age of six. She graduated from Plainview Academy in Redfield, SD. Following high school as WWII started, she was told she could get a job in California so in 1939 Mary moved to California where she began working for the Henning family in San Mateo. She worked as a modern day Nanny caring for the household and the children and lived with the Henning's who was from St. Louis, MO. The Henning's owned the company that supplied cabling to the Golden Gate Bridge. Her best girlfriend knew Weston's cousin who introduced them. They were married on July 12, 1942. Mary attended State California Junior College in 1940 and 1941. A son, Myron was born in 1944. Mary and Weston returned to Lemmon in 1945. She played a key role in the day to day operations of Wolff's Plumbing & Heating from 1946 to 1958 which was started by Weston and his brother Harold. Mary and Weston moved to the ranch west of Lemmon in 1970. Mary had the gift of hospitality and was known for entertaining family, extended family and unexpected guests spontaneously. She was a wonderful mother, a kind and loving aunt, and trusted friend to many. Mary contracted Gullain-Barre Syndrome in February of 2010. After a short stay in a Bismarck hospital, she took up residency at Western Horizon Care Center in Hettinger in April of 2010. Mary attended New Hope Worship Center and participated in the Church's Lady Circle. She committed her life and became a follower of Jesus Christ at a young age. She was the recipient of God's grace in overcoming cancer and experienced significant recovery from Guillian-Barre Syndrome. Her life impacted those around her. She passed from this life on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger at the age of 94 years, 11 months, 23 days. Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Myron and Kathy Wolff, Cincinnati, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Wolff Durick and Rick Kadis, Tucson, AZ; grandsons, Todd Wolff and his wife Janelle, Covington, KY; Brian Wolff and his wife, Julie, Loveland, OH; great grandchildren, Stefani Wolff, Chicago, IL; Alex and Nick Wolff, Covington, KY; Weston and Taylor Wolff, Loveland, OH; one brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Vina Osborn, Atlanta, GA; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Weston, and two brothers, Harold and Melvin Osborn. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
