Description	:	Mrs. David Higgins Elizabeth Riley, daughter of Farnel and Elizabeth Riley was born in Virginia, October 20, 1819, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M.H. Barnett in Cantril, Iowa, June 3, 1918 at the age of 98 years, seven months and thirteen days. She moved with her parents to Wetzel County, West Virginia, near Sisterville. She was married to David Huggans August 15, 1840. here To this union was born eight children, four sons and four daughters. Alonzo of Portland, Oregon, Chas. M. of Memphis, Mo., W.F. of Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. Jane Nichols of Cantril, Iowa, Mary Francis who died at the age of 16 years, Alfred of Cantril, Iowa, Mrs. Virginia Steward of Fairfield, Iowa, Mrs. M.H. Barnett, of Cantril, Iowa. She leaves thirty grandchildren, sixty great-grand children and seventeen great-great-grandchildren. Her husband died at their home east of Cantril June 20, 1897. Since then she has made her home with her daughter Mrs. M.H. Barnett where she was cared for by kind and loving hands. She united with the Baptist church at Harrisburg near Pierceville soon after coming to Iowa, in 1853, in which faith she remained until her death. Her children were all permitted to be at her bedside during her last sickness except Alonzo of Oregon. She was in good health for one of her age until about two weeks ago when she fell and broke her hip which was the cause of her death. She was the last of a family of twelve children. She retained her physical and mental health to within a few days of her death and often remarked that her friends and neighbors were good and kind to her. The funeral was held from the M.E. Church in Cantril and burial in the Cantril cemetery.
