MARY TROXELL Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., from the Methodist church in Neligh, for Mrs. Mary Troxell, 93, who passed away at a Norfolk hospital on Wednesday, September 20th. Mrs. Troxell had been, taken, to the hospital following a following a earlier fall in the week at the home of her son, Alvin in Neligh, in which she suffered a broken hip. Mrs. Troxell was one of the eldest, if not the eldest, person living in the Neligh community at the time of her death, and until her injury had been very alert and quite active for her years, visiting, her friends about the neighborhood and enjoying visits from her many friends who knew her affectionately as Grandma Troxell. Mary E. Thompson was born in Ohio, January 3, 1851, and departed this life September 20, 1944. She came to Nebraska in 1867 and on November 16, 1870 was united in marriage to Oscar I. Troxell in Fremont, Nebr. To this union two-children were born, Ida and Alvin A. nephew, Gene, was also taken into the home in infancy and reared as a son. She and her husband lived in Saunders county until 1883 when they came to homestead in Antelope county and in 1885 moved to Neligh. She has been a member of the Methodist church o Neligh for 68 years and has been loyal and faithful to her church through the many years. Her husband, a civil war veteran, preceded her in death, as did her only daughter, Ida. surviving are her sons, Alvin of Neligh, and Gene, of Burwell, Nebraska, five grandchildren and a sisters Mrs. Jennie Lawson of Arkansas. Services Sunday were in charge of Rev. G. C. Robberson. Burial was in Laurel Hill cemetery.
