Description	:	Mary Waters Richards, age 84, died Friday, January 20, 2017 at her home in Mount Airy, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Broschart Richards her husband of 53 years. Born December 6, 1932 in Damascus, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late William U. Sr., and Katherine Steel Waters. Mary was a homemaker and worked in the family business Montgomery Tire Service for 25 years. She retired to be a full time grandmother. She was a graduate of Damascus High School Class of 1950, and member of the Damascus United Methodist Church, where she taught sunday school for many years.... Born December 6, 1932 in Damascus, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late William U. Sr., and Katherine Steel Waters. Mary was a homemaker and worked in the family business Montgomery Tire Service for 25 years. She retired to be a full time grandmother. She was a graduate of Damascus High School Class of 1950, and member of the Damascus United Methodist Church, where she taught sunday school for many years. Mary enjoyed patting oysters for the annual dinners, and was an active member of the Harwood House Thrift Shop. She was an avid reader, scrabble player, and was an accomplished knitter and seamstress. She loved jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She is survived by two children: Ginger King and husband Wayne of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania and Lloyd Richards and his wife Donna of Mount Airy. Four grandchildren: Amy Savage of Stevens, Pa.; Jenny Savage of Waynesboro. Pa.; Luke Richards and Joe Richards of Mount Airy; and a brother Bill Waters of Damascus. Mary is preceded in death by a sister Virginia Waters Serkiz. Friends may call 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Monday, January 23 at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road Damascus, Maryland 20872. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 24 at Damascus United Methodist Church, 9700 New Church Street, Damascus, Maryland 20872. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster 21157 or Damascus United Methodist Church at the address above.
